BEAGLE RESCUE AND ADOPTION
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO VIEW ALL OF THE BEAGLES POSTED BELOW.  THEY ARE ALL DESERVING OF NEW HOMES!

IF ALL PHOTOS DO NOT LOAD WHEN THIS PAGE IS OPENED, PLEASE RELOAD/REFRESH THE PAGE.

The Beagles listed below are in dire need of rescue and adoption.  Many have very little time left to be rescued.  Too many Beagles for one reason or another are abandoned or abused and need rescued by a loving family that will commit to them for their lifetime.  Other times for reason's beyond an owner's control, they must give up their dog and find themselves in the unfortunate circumstance of re-homing their pet.  Because Beagles are over all a healthy, forgiving and loving breed, they do well in re-homing situations.   Please give one of the very deserving dogs below a second chance.  I am always available to council any family that adopts or rescues a Beagle viewed on this site free of charge.

THE BEAGLES LISTED BELOW ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DOG POUND OR SHELTER LISTED

HUNTER

The Beagle known as "Hunter" is in desperate need of a new, loving home.  He is a male, not neutered (but I will have this done before he is adopted..in the process of trying to get a voucher now). He is very sweet and absolutely loves kids. He is very playful..but a little timid when you play with him. He seems to think we are going to hit him. We found him running down the side of the road in Franklin. He has large burns on his back (no fur in the spots where he has been burnt). I am not sure what might've happened to him but it seems obvious that he has been abused. He loves stuffed animals - and even digs through my sons toy box until he finds the perfect one he wants to play with.He picks random things up around the house (shoes, socks, toys, ANYTHING) and puts them in a pile in front of the door. Never chews up any of them. He seems to be housetrained...no accidents yet (crossing my fingers..lol!) and we keep him in all night. He does want a ton of attention and seem scared to death that we are going to leave him. He is good once we are gone though - no tearing anything up or scratching at doors.    If you would like more information regarding "Hunter" please email Kasey at:

THESE BEAGLES HAVE LITTLE TIME LEFT!  PLEASE GIVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE!

MARTHA
Hi, there, I'm Martha, and I'm a sweet tri-color Walker Hound (like an over sized Beagle). I was found wandering in someone's yard in Lunenburg County, and they were kind enough to bring me here so I'd be taken care of. They think I'm about 7 years old. I'm a typical laid-back hound that loves people and gets along with the other dogs here. If you think I'm the dog for you, please contact the shelter at 434 736-9595, email info@southsidespca.org

FARMALL HAS BEEN WAITING FOR HOMES FOR SUCH A LONG TIME.  WON'T SOMEBODY GIVE HIM SOME LOVE?!

This is Farmall, and he's a sweet boy-naturally! After all, he's a Beagle! He walks well on a leash, and really responded well to a 6 year old girl . . . he let her walk him and gave her lots of love! He's a small bench-leg Beagle (like "Uno" - the AKC Best In Show) that is the perfect house dog size. He is so gentle and would make an excellent companion for another dog and a great family pet. He loves attention and hopes to find a home with a wonderful family. At only 6 years old, he still has a lot of love to give. Farmall made his first trip to PETSMART on 3/21/08 so we could see how he reacted to a strange new environment and he had a ball! The kids ran him around so much he slept like a baby Saturday night. You can sponsor Farmall's neuter for $50.00 and help him to get adopted. Please make your check out to Southside SPCA and mail to Southside SPCA, P O Pox 66, Meherrin, VA 23954. Thank you for helping give homeless dogs a chance to find a loving home.

WILLIE

This is Willie and he must not have been a good hunting dog - his name comes from the letter "W" marked on his side (a hunter's way of marking his dogs, lucky Willie will never have to hunt again!). He's a little bit shy but we think he'll warm up once he figures out we don't want him to hunt anymore. If you are interested in meeting Willie to possibly adopt please contact the shelter at info@southsidespca.org.  Willis is up to date on shots and has been neutered

GUS

This mild-mannered beagle's name is Gus, and he's about 8 years old. He walks very methodically like a dancer or a spy. He'll come to you for attention, but he doesn't demand it. But boy does he loved to be rubbed by the shelter workers...he's a typical, lovable Beagle that has waisted to many years at the shelter when he could be someone's best friend! He's also very sympathetic with his kennelmates when they get nervous. Just a great, polite fellow! Please contact the shelter if you'd like Gus in your family!  Gus is up to date on shots and neutered

OWL

Owl is your typical sweet and adorable hound. She's about 7-8 years old and just loves everyone. Of course she also gets along with other dogs. We don't know much about her past other than she seems to have had quite a few puppies in her time. Owl would love to be adopted, or to have a PAWS sponsor of her very own. If interested in OWL email info@southsidespca.org to arrange a meeting or inquire about our PAWS program.

Luke

Hi everybody....here at the rescue they call me 'LUKE'. I'm approx. 25lbs and I'm about 2 years old. They tell me I am lucky because I was rescued from a backyard breeder situation and things weren't so good. Things are pretty good here and I'm all neutered, had my shots, they say I'm heartworm negative and I'm going to be microchipped so my new family can always find me if I get lost. I do great with other animals and most people. I tend to be a little shy and needs some 'TLC'. I just wasn't given much attention at my old home but I am learning its a GREAT thing! If you're looking for something to love and call your own then I may be your guy. Just call the rescue and make arrangements to meet me soon...I'll be waiting for you!

Elainie is a bit shy at first but quickly blossoms to be a lovebug! She is a happy, playful soul who is starting to realize its ok to just be a happy dog. Elainie is spayed, is current on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.

HUNTER
This is Hunter, an almost 1 year old Beagle mix. Hunter spent the weekend with a volunteer who said he is fun loving and quick to learn.  Hunter is pretty darn good on the leash and is perfect in his crate. He spent the night in his crate and never made a sound and didn't have any accidents! Hunter loves people of all ages, doggies of all sizes, and while he is cat safe, he needs to go to a home with dog savvy kitties as he likes to play with them. As with all pups, Hunter has quite a bit of energy, so a fenced yard, a doggie playmate, or an active family would be best for him. Hunter needs is a loving family to show him how great life can be. This nice boy is neutered, current on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.
